Our school is a "211 project" key construction university directly under the ministry of national education, whose school-running characteristics are to foster highway and transportation，land and resources and the environment and architectural engineering professionals and so on. It focus on cultivating advanced talents of computer applied in road traffic system, technical personnel of highway control and management, personnel of urban traffic signal control, technical personnel of auto safety performance test, etc. "Computer Advanced Programming Technology" is the main professional course of automation department , electronic information department and traffic information and control engineering department. We choose the combination of the original English teaching materials "Mastering Delphi7" written by American Marco Cantu and "The Delphi Database Programming Tutorial" as the teaching materials of this course. According to the urgent need in the development of the key discipline of the school, "road engineering" and "traffic vehicles application project", the course directors combine the latest cutting-edge technology of computer science, the computer application system development requirements and the provisions of the period in the undergraduate training programs. And then they select parts of the chapters in the original textbook and edit them again. This textbook has new contents and wide applicability. Currently there has no corresponding teaching material as the same type all over the country.

      This course adopts bilingual teaching, aiming at adapting to the training requirement to the complex talent from 211 colleges in the new century by the state education commission. It is also the key bilingual course constructed by the famous major, electronic information specialty, in our school.
